Going to the movies...

Yay!  Saturday!

Yesterday Amber wrote about things not to do in a theater.  So, I thought I would write about a recent trip Tony and I had to the theater.  It had been awhile since we went out to the movies so it was our little date night.  We went to see Paranormal Activity because he loves them.

The movie was good; however I couldn't get all the way into watching the movie.  Usually there is at least one person that decides they would rather be playing on their phone rather than watch the movie.  Which I hate!  As Amber mentioned it's like moths to a flame, my eyes go there.  I try to concentrate on the movie, but can't because they keep going back there.  Luckily there weren't any of those people this time.

However, there were two elderly people in wheel chairs that were brought in.  They "spoke" through the whole movie.  I use the term "spoke" loosely, but basically it was like they were heckling the movie.  It sounded like elderly people when you go to a nursing home, where they aren't quite all there/senile.  The people that brought them finally got up to move them, but they moved them to the hallway where they could still watch, but the sound still echoed through the whole theater.  The people that brought them were in scrubs, so it was almost as if it was an outing from a nursing home, and it didn't seem like the two elderly people were enjoying themselves.

It was distracting throughout the whole movie.  It was a movie that most people want to get focused into so that they can be scared from the appropriate moments, but that didn't happen with the hecklers.  A couple people actually shushed them a couple of times.

It was frustrating and sad.  I wish that the people that came with them would have left and asked for a refund for their tickets to come back without them.

Process of a redesign

I thought I'd use this entry to show the steps I went through to make the final product for the new blog header.  First was the idea.  I have a paintbrush in photoshop that's a filmstrip.  I thought I'd use that with some of my pictures under a negative filter so that it looks like a negative strip from old film cameras.  Then show the pictures randomly around the banner. Hence the "see what develops" tagline.  I loved this tagline because it can have multiple meanings.  Obviously, with pictures we all want to see what develops from what we take.  Then, this is going to be a life blog as well, so we'll see what develops with this journey.   I love this tagline, which is why I kept it even though I didn't keep the original concept.

This is what I had before, which I still like, but was wanting something different.

Though I didn't start off very well...[Please don't judge me of my unfinished works..lol]

Starting out with the concept, I wanted the film strip, negative pictures, and camera.

Then I played around with some ideas with polaroids and was not liking it at all..lol

This is mid-workflow.  I kept moving stuff around and everything.  Tony said the background looked like a cow lol.  I decided I wasn't as into the pictures being in the negative.  I might do something with it again later, but I like what I ended up with :c)
I had this, but changed the background behind the name to black to match how I have been tagging pictures.

I love working with stuff and designing things in photoshop.  Sometimes what I get isn't that great, but keep moving stuff around and brainstorming and most of the time you can come up with some nifty stuff!  Another lesson we can all learn, you may not get it right to begin with, but if you keep trying and working at it you may get something you love :c)

The Date

If you've read my other entries you know I've chosen Oct. 6 next year for our wedding (thought of June at first because that's when we met, and that's when he proposed, but it's too hot in June and I want at least part of it outdoors. Would love 10/11/12, but it's a weekday and the Sat before is 10/6 and I like that 6 represents June)

Anywho! I was looking through an old blog I've had back since 2003 and had an entry for October 5, 2008- It was the day Tony moved over here ♥ Loving 10/6 more and more :c)

Capturing Love

As you know, I've taken more nature photography than people photography.  I'm just don't do well with posing people.  I have ideas!  I'm just a shy natured person where I feel odd telling people how to pose.  I'm sure that's something you get used to!  I love capturing candid moments, however.  It's just so nice capturing that secret moment for it to live on forever in a photograph.  When I see wedding photographs, those are usually the ones I love to see.  For instance, I love photographs of the Groom's first look of his bride coming down the aisle.  Most eyes are on the bride, and it's awesome to see that moment captured as well.

Here are some pictures I've captured.

The three above are from a recently tag-a-long I went on with Kimberly Hartmann Photography.  Don't forget to check out her facebook!

The above two pictures are from a meetup group we found and went to.  They were having a model photoshoot to practice with people and we brought some of our friends to be the models.  I'll share more from this day in another entry also!

Hey! It's ok! [Tuesday]

Idea borrow from Amber [Whispering Writer] which was borrowed from Glamour magazine.  They have a section called Hey, It’s Okay and will list a bunch of things to be okay about.

- to have not bought any candy for trick or treaters. I live in an apartment and for the past 5+ years since living over here I've yet to have a trick or treater.  Actually, thinking back I don't think I've seen a door to door trick or treater since 911.  Though, I live in a college town and since that time they have a special event on greek row [the fraternities and sororities] for the kids to stay safe and get a ton of candy all in one place.

- to have went to the store to see the after halloween sales.  Target only had their candy 30% off...lamers! lol

- to can't believe it's already November!

- to can't wait for Christmas, but at the same time wishes it takes it's time lol.

- to realize there is only 2 months left of this year!

and that's all I have for my first HIOT :c)

Introduction

Hello guys!  I'm writing this on Sunday, but am trying the schedule release feature on this blog site.  I am going to attempt the NoJoMo this year.  I tried DePhoMo a couple years ago and barely got halfway through it, maybe I'll keep up with it each day this year. lol.  If you don't know what that is NoJoMo stands for November Journal Month.  It's an entry each day.  There are many entries I want to write and share so hopefully I'll be able to fill up the month.

This blog started as a photography blog, but I've decided to make it a general one.  I'll be mostly sharing photographs I've snapped but will also be sharing other stuff.  I also have a blog called The Indecisive Bride.  Not sure whether to keep that separate of not..lol..indecisive much?

So a little bit about me fore anyone who doesn't know me already.  I am a 29 year old Floridian.  I have lived here most of my life, but was born in Hawaii and lived there until I was two.  I love anything Italian, and was able to visit and travel the country back in 2006.  I was recently engaged to Tony.  He proposed very sweetly and romantically back in June of this year.  He surprised me with a day at Discovery Cove and swimming with the dolphins.  We were alone in the caves there when he asked me.  I can't wait until next year when we are married! :c)

Hmm, what else?  Oh!  I am a fellow host of a podcast called N3RDc@st.  Come find us on facebook, or check out our blog.  We are social media nerds that love talking about anything nerdy, especially books, movies, and tv shows!  Come join us and let us know any thoughts or ideas.

As you know I also love photography and capturing life.  I have loved taking pictures for as long as I can remember.  I remember when I was younger I posed my Barbies and took some group pictures of them. LoL.  This was back in the day of film pictures, I could only imagine how many Barbie pictures I would have if that was in the digital age.   I wonder if I could find those pictures; there may have also been some with our dog dressed up in a doll's dress.  Poor Nikki lol.

A couple years ago I purchased a SLR digital camera and I love it!  I am still learning all of the manual features and such.  There's so much to learn out of the auto features.  It's nice taking good pictures in auto feature, but the more and more I learn about the manual settings the more I find how awesome it is to have more control over creating that awesome picture.  I'm still learning my style, but the journey is half the fun!  I'm a shy natured person so I don't do well with posing people for portraits, so I focus more so in nature photography.

I redesigned the banner for this blog on Sunday.  It's not what I was originally thinking of when I thought of the design.  At first I had 'negatives' with pictures made to look like they were part of the negatives.  That's where the "Let's See what develops" comes from.  It just didn't look right once I had it all out in photoshop so I kept playing with it.  I really like what came out.  I asked my fiance Tony what he thought, but he said he's not creative so he's not the one to ask. lol.  So any thoughts, or ideas for improvement?  Or is it fine like it is?

I think that's a pretty good entry to start with.

*I'm going to add something to this blog because I saw a new thing that lasts this month...30 days of thankfulness:
I am thankful for God.  I'm going to start here because where would we be. :c)
